ေမလ(၁၀)ရက္ေန႔ တနဂၤေႏြေန႔သည္ အေမရိကန္ႏုိင္ငံ၏ အေမေန႔ျဖစ္သည္။ ထုိေန႔သည္ သန္းေပါင္းမ်ား စြာေသာ အေမရိကန္ျပည္သူမ်ားက သူတုိ႔၏ မိခင္မ်ားကုိ နည္းလမ္းအသြယ္သြယ္ျဖင့္ ဂုဏ္ျပဳၾကေသာေန႔ ျဖစ္သည္။
အေမေန႔သည္ ျပည္သူမ်ားက သူတုိ႔၏ မိခင္မ်ားအတြက္ သူတုိ႔ခံစားရေသာ ေက်းဇူးေတာ္မ်ားႏွင့္ ခ်စ္ျခင္း ေမတၱာမ်ားကုိ ေဖာ္ထုတ္ျပသသည့္ အခ်ိန္အခါျဖစ္သည္။ သူတုိ႔သည္ အေမကုိ လက္ေဆာင္မ်ားေပးၾက သည္။ ႏႈတ္ခြန္းဆက္ကဒ္မ်ား ပုိ႔ၾကသည္။ အေမအတြက္ လက္ေဆာင္မ်ားေပးၾကသည္။ ၄င္းေနာက္ သူတုိ႔ သည္ အေမ့ကုိ ညစာသံုးေဆာင္ႏုိင္ရန္ အျပင္သုိ႔ ေခၚေဆာင္သြားၾကပါသည္။

အေမေန႔ကုိ လြန္ခဲ့ေသာ ႏွစ္ေပါင္း (၈၀)ေက်ာ္ကတည္းက တမ်ိဳးသားလံုးႏွင့္ ဆုိင္ေသာ အခမ္းအနားအျဖစ္ က်င္းပခဲ့ၾကသည္။ အေမမ်ားကုိ ဂုဏ္ျပဳသည့္ အုိင္ဒီယာကေတာ့ ျဖင့္ ထုိ႔ထက္ေစာပါသည္။ ယေန႔တူရကီ ႏုိင္ငံ၏ ေ႐ွးေဟာင္း ယဥ္ေက်းမႈတြင္ ဆုိက္ဘီလီ (Cybele) နတ္ဘုရားမကုိ ဂုဏ္ျပဳမႈ တစ္ခု႐ွိခဲ့ဖူးပါသည္။ သူတုိ႔၏ ယံုၾကည္မႈစနစ္အရ ဆုိက္ဘီလီ နတ္ဘုရားမသည္ နတ္ဘုရားအားလံုး၏ မိခင္ျဖစ္သည္။ ဆုိက္ဘီ လိနတ္ဘုရားကုိ ယံုၾကည္မႈသည္ ေရွးေဟာင္းဂရိႏွင့္ ေရာမ လူ႔အစည္းအရုံးမ်ားတြင္ ပ်ံ႕ႏွံ႕သြားေလသည္။ ရာစုႏွစ္ေပါင္းမ်ားစြာ ၾကာေသာအခါ၌ အျခားႏိုင္ငံမ်ားတြင္လည္း အေမမ်ားကို ဂုဏ္ျပဳသည့္္ အခမ္းအနား မ်ား က်င္းပလာခဲ့ၾကပါသည္။

၁၈၀၀ျပည့္လြန္ႏွစ္မ်ားအတြင္းတြင္ အေမရိကန္လူမ်ိဳးမ်ားသည္ အေမမ်ားကို ဂုဏ္ျပဳရန္ ေဒသ အတြင္းရွိ ပြဲလမ္းမ်ားကို စည္းရုံးခဲ့သည္။ မည္သို႔ပင္ျဖစ္ေစ တမ်ိဳးသားလံုးႏွင့္ဆိုေသာ ပြဲေတာ္အတြက္ ေထာက္ခံ အားေပးမႈ ရရွိလာေစရႏ္ အခ်ိန္ယူခဲ့ပါသည္။ ထုိကဲ့သို႔ က်င္းပႏိုင္ရန္ တာ၀န္ခံခဲ့သူမွာ အန္နာ ဂ်ာဗစ္စ္ ျဖစ္သည္။ မစၥစ္ဂ်ာဗစ္စ္သည္ ၁၉၀၀ ျပည့္ႏွစ္လြန္မ်ား၏ အေစာပိုင္းကာလမ်ားတြင္ စတင္ႀကိဳးပမ္း ခဲ့သည္။

သူမသည္ သတင္းစာထုတ္ေ၀သူမ်ား၊ ဆရာဆရာမမ်ား၊ ၿမိဳ႕အာဏာပိုင္မ်ား၊ ကြန္ဂရက္လူႀကီးမ်ား ထံ စာေရးသား ခဲ့သည္။ သူမ၏ စိတ္ကူးစိတ္သန္းမ်ားကို အားေပးကူညီမႈရရွိေစရန္ တုိင္းျပည္တ၀ွမ္း ခရီး လွည့္လည္ ခဲ့သည္။ ၁၉၁၄ခုႏွစ္တြင္ သမၼတ၀ုဒ္ဒရိုး၀ီလ္ဆင္ႏွင့္ ကြန္ဂရက္လူႀကီးမ်ားက ေမလ၏ ဒုတိယ အပတ္ တနဂၤေႏြေန႔ကို အေမေန႔အျဖစ္ အေမရိကန္ႏိုင္ငံတြင္ က်င္းပသင့္ေၾကာင္း သေဘာတူခဲ့သည္။

အန္နာဂ်ာဗစ္စ္ကေတာ့ အေမေန႔ကို ရိုးရိုးေလးသာ ျဖစ္ေစခ်င္သည္။ ကေလးငယ္မ်ားသည္ သူတို႔ ၏ မိခင္မ်ား ကို ၾကင္နာေသာ အမူအရာေလးမ်ားႏွင့္ ဂုဏ္ျပဳႏိုင္လိမ့္မည္ဟု သူမက စဥ္းစားထားသည္ အေမေန႔ ကို ေငြေၾကးေျမာက္ျမားစြာ သံုးစြဲရသည့္ စီးပြားေရးလုပ္ငန္းႀကီးအတြက္ အခ်ိန္ကာလတစ္ခု ျဖစ္ လာမည္ ကိုေတာ့ သူမ မလိုလားခဲ့။ သို႔ေသာ္ ထုိကဲ့သို႔ ျဖစ္ေပၚလာသည့္ အေျခအေနမ်ားမွာ ကာကြယ္ရန္ သူ၏ အားထုတ္မႈမွာ မေအာင္ျမင္ခဲ့။

အေမေန႔သည္ တယ္လီဖုန္းကုမၸဏီမ်ား၊ ႏႈန္ခန္းဆက္ကဒ္ ထုတ္လုပ္သည့္လုပ္ငန္း၊ ပန္း အေရာင္းဆိုင္မ်ား လက္ေဆာင္ ပစၥည္းအေရာင္ဆိုင္မ်ားအတြက္ အႀကီးအက်ယ္ေငြရသည့္ ေန႔တစ္ေန႔ ျဖစ္လာသည္။ ယေန႕ အခ်ိန္အခါ တြင္ သန္းေပါင္းမ်ားစြာေသာ အေမရိကန္မ်ားသည္ အေမေန႔ကို နည္းမ်ိဳးစုံ ျဖင့္ က်င္းပခဲ့ ၾကသည္။ သူတို႔သည္ အေမေန႔ ႏႈတ္ခြန္းဆက္ကဒ္ သန္း၁၅၀ေက်ာ္ ၀ယ္ယူခဲ့ၾကသည္။ ကုမၸဏီမ်ား အမ်ိဳးကြဲေပါင္း တစ္ေထာင္ေက်ာ္ ထုတ္လပု္ခဲ့ၾကသည္။ ကဒ္အမ်ားစုမွာ အေမႏွင့္ဆက္ႏြယ္ၿပီး သူတုိ႔ ခံစားရသည့္ ပံုမ်ား၊ ပန္းပြင့္မ်ား အသဲႏွလံုးပံုမ်ားႏွင့္ အျခားပံုမ်ားပါ၀င္သည္။ သူတုိ႔၌ သူတုိ႔၏ မိခင္မ်ား အတြက္ သူတုိ႔၏ ခ်စ္ျခင္းေမတၱာႏွင့္ ေက်းဇူးေတာ္မ်ားကုိ ေဖာ္ျပထားသည့္ သတင္းစကား မက္ေဆ့ခ်္မ်ား ႐ွိသည္။ တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕မွာ ရယ္စရာ ေမာစရာမ်ားျဖစ္သည္။ တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕မွာ စကားလံုးမ်ားမပါ။ သူတုိ႔ မိခင္အတြက္ သူတုိ႔ ၏ ကိုယ္ပုိင္ခံစားခ်က္မ်ားကုိ ေဖာ္ျပသႏုိင္ခဲ့သည္။

လူအမ်ားစုကေတာ့ အေမေန႔အတြက္ ပန္းမ်ားေပးၾကသည္။ ပန္းေရာင္း၀ယ္ေရး လုပ္ငန္းမ်ားအတြက္ အေမ ေန႔သည္တစ္ႏွစ္တာလံုး၏ အလုပ္အမ်ားဆံုးေန႔တစ္ေန႔ျဖစ္သည္။ ၁၉၉၅ ခုႏွစ္တြင္ ေရာင္းခဲ့ရေသာ အပင္မ်ား ႏွင့္ လတ္လတ္ ဆတ္ဆတ္ ပန္းမ်ားအားလံုး၏ ႏွစ္ဆယ့္သံုးရာခုိင္ႏႈန္းမွာ အေမေန႔အတြက္ ၀ယ္ ယူခဲ့ၾကျခင္း ျဖစ္သည္။ အေမမ်ားႏွင့္ ေ၀းကြာေသာအရပ္တြင္ ေနထုိင္ၾကေသာ အေမရိကန္ လူမ်ိဳးမ်ား သည္ သူတုိ႔ မိခင္ထံ ပန္းမ်ားပုိ႔ၾကသည္။ သူတုိ႔သည္ ေဒသတြင္း ပန္းအေရာင္းဆုိင္မ်ားတြင္ ေအာ္ဒါ မွာ ၾကသည္။ ေဒသတြင္း႐ွိ ပန္းအေရာင္းဆုိင္မ်ားက အေ၀းၿမိဳ႕ ပန္းအေရာင္းဆုိင္မ်ားကုိ တယ္လီဖုန္း ဆက္ၾက သည္။ ဖက္စ္ပုိ႔ၾကသည္။

လူအမ်ားစုသည္ အေမေန႔ႏွင့္ အေမအေၾကာင္းကုိ သီခ်င္းမ်ားဖဲြ႕ႏဲြ႕သီကံုးၾကသည္။ ၄င္းမွာ" အေမေန႔ " (Mother Day's) သီခ်င္းျဖစ္သည္။ ရစ္ခ္မာဂ်စ္ဇာက ေရးသားသီကံုးေဖ်ာ္ေျဖခဲ့သည္။ အေမေန႔ လက္ေဆာင္၀ယ္ ယူရန္ အေမရိကန္တုိ႔သည္ ေဒၚလာသန္းေပါင္းမ်ားစြာ သံုးစဲြခဲ့ၾကသည္။ အေမေန႔ အား လပ္ရက္ မတုိင္မီကပင္ စတုိးဆုိင္ႀကီးမ်ားက ေၾကျငာလုပ္ငန္းမ်ားကုိ အႀကီးအက်ယ္ စတင္လုပ္ေဆာင္ၾက သည္။ အ၀တ္စားမ်ား၊ ရနံ႔ေမႊးေသာ ေရေမႊးႏွင့္ ေက်ာက္မ်က္ရတနာမ်ားသည္ လူႀကိဳက္မ်ားေသာ ႐ုိးရာ လက္ေဆာင္ မ်ားျဖစ္သည္။ သိၾကားလံုးသည္လည္း အလြန္လူႀကိဳက္မ်ားသည္။ မည္သုိ႔ဆုိေစ အေမေန႔ လက္ ေဆာင္မ်ားကုိေတာ့ျဖင့္ စိတ္ကူးျဖင့္ ပံုေဖာ္ၾကည့္ႏုိင္ပါသည္။ အေမအမ်ားစုကေတာ့ စာအုပ္မ်ား၊ အားကစား လုပ္ရန္ ကိရိယာတန္ဆာ ပလာမ်ားႏွင့္ ျပဇာတ္႐ံုလက္မွတ္တုိ႔ကုိ အလုိ႐ွိၾကသည္။

အေမေန႔သည္ ကေလးသူငယ္မ်ားက သူတုိ႔၏ မိခင္မ်ားအတြက္ အထူးကိစၥမ်ား ေဆာင္႐ြက္ရန္ အခ်ိန္အခါ လည္း ျဖစ္သည္။ တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕က အထူးလက္ေဆာင္မြန္မ်ားကုိ ျပဳလုပ္ၾကၿပီး တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕ကေတာ့ အေကာင္းဆံုး ႐ုပ္ပံု မ်ားကုိ ေရးဆဲြခဲ့ၾကသည္။ သုိ႔တည္းမဟုတ္ သူတုိ႔သည္ အေကာင္းဆံုး သီခ်င္းကုိ ပီယာႏုိျဖင့္ တီးခတ္ပါ လိမ့္မည္။ ထုိသီခ်င္းမွာ ကၽြန္ေတာ္၏ ခ်စ္လွစြာေသာ ေမေမ (My Dear Little Mother) သီခ်င္းျဖစ္သည္။ ၁၈၀၀ ျပည့္လြန္ႏွစ္မ်ားတြင္ ရု႐ွားကြန္ပုိဆာ ပီတာ အီလ်စ္ခ်ိဳက္ေကာ့ဖ္စကီး ေရးသားခဲ့ ပါသည္။
အေမ ႏွင့္ ပတ္သက္ၿပီး သူ႔ခံစားခ်က္ကုိ ဂီတျဖင့္ ထုတ္ေဖာ္ျပသခဲ့ပါသည္။

မိသားစုတစ္ခုသည္ အေမေန႔တြင္ ကေလးငယ္မ်ားအတြက္ မနက္ေစာေစာအစာကုိ ခ်က္ျပဳတ္ၾကပါသည္။ ၄င္းေနာက္ အေမအိပ္ယာထဲမွာ ႐ွိေနစဥ္အခ်ိန္တြင္ အေမကုိ သူတုိ႔ အစားအစာ ေကၽြးေမြးၾကပါသည္။ သူ တုိ႔ သည္ အိမ္သန္႔႐ွင္းေရး လုပ္ခ်င္လုပ္မည္။ သုိ႔အတြက္ေၾကာင့္ အေမသည္ အလုပ္လုပ္စရာမလုိေတာ့။ ဖခင္မ်ားက ထုိေန႔တြင္ ကေလးထိန္းခ်င္ထိန္းမည္။ သုိ႔အတြက္ေၾကာင့္ အေမသည္ အနားယူႏုိင္မည္။ လမ္း ေလွ်ာက္ ႏုိင္မည္။ စာဖတ္ႏုိင္မည္။ ထုိ ေန႔ထူးေန႔ျမတ္၏ လြတ္လပ္မႈအရသာသည္ အေမေန႔၏ အေကာင္း ဆံုးလက္ေဆာင္အျဖစ္ အေမမ်ားက ခံစားနားလည္ၾကသည္။

အေမေန႔သည္ မိသားစု၀င္မ်ား ျပန္လည္ေတြ႕ဆံု၊ စံုညီမႈအတြက္ အေရးႀကီးေသာအခါ သမယျဖစ္သည္။ တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕မိသားစုမ်ားမွာ မိသားစု၀င္ ျဖစ္ၾကသည့္ အေမ၊ အဖြား်ား၊ အေဒၚမ်ား၊ အမမ်ားႏွင့္ ၀မ္းကဲြမ်ားကုိ အတူတကြ ဂါရ၀ျပဳၾကသည္။ ထုိေန႔တြင္ သူတုိ႔မိခင္မ်ားႏွင့္အခ်ိန္မေပးႏိုင္ေသာ လူမ်ားကေတာ့ သူတုိ႔ မိခင္မ်ားထံ ဖုန္းေခၚၾကသည္။ အေမေန႔သည္ အေမရိက႐ွိ တယ္လီဖုန္းကုမၸဏီမ်ားအတြက္ အလုပ္အမ်ား ဆံုး ေန႔ရက္မ်ားထဲမွ တစ္ရက္ျဖစ္သည္။ လူသန္းေပါင္း ၁၂၅ သန္း အထက္႐ွိ လူမ်ား (သားမ်ား၊ သမီးမ်ား)က သူတုိ႔၏ မိခင္မ်ားထံကုိ တနဂၤေႏြတြင္ ဖုန္းေခၚၾကသည္။

မိသားစုတစ္ခ်ိဳ႕ကေတာ့ ေဒသတြင္း စားေသာက္ဆုိင္မ်ားတြင္ ေန႔လည္စာကုိ အတူစားၾကလိမ့္မည္။ အေမမ်ားသည္ ေန႔လည္စာ အတြက္ ထုိေန႔ထူးေန႔ျမတ္တြင္ ခ်က္ျပဳတ္စရာမလုိေတာ့။ အျပင္ထြက္ ညစာ စားျခင္း သည္ အေမေန႔၏ အစဥ္အလာျဖစ္လာသည္။ အေမရိကန္လူမ်ိဳး ၃၉ ရာခုိင္ႏႈန္း အထက္သည္ ထုိကဲ့သုိ႔ အျပင္ထြက္၍ ညစာစားၾကသည္။ အက်ိဳးဆက္မွာ ထုိေန႔တြင္ စားေသာက္ဆုိင္မ်ား၌ လူမ်ား အလြန္အမင္း စည္ကားေနျခင္းပင္ျဖစ္သည္။ ထုိေန႔သည္ အေမရိကန္ျပည္ေထာင္စု႐ွိ စားေသာက္ဆုိင္မ်ား အတြက္ တစ္ႏွစ္တာလံုး၏ အလုပ္အမ်ားဆံုးေန႔ရက္မ်ားထဲမွ တစ္ရက္ျဖစ္လာသည္။
ေနာက္ထပ္ အေမေန႔၏ လႈပ္႐ွားမႈတစ္ခုမွာ ဂီတေဖ်ာ္ေျဖပဲြ ကြန္ဆက္တ္သြားျခင္းျဖစ္သည္။ " ကၽြန္ေတာ့္ အေမ ကၽြန္ေတာ့္ကုိ သင္ေပးခဲ့တဲ့ သီခ်င္းမ်ား" (Songs My Mother Taugh Me) သီခ်င္းကုိ ခ်က္လူမိ်ဳး ကြန္ပုိဆာ အန္တုိႏွင့္ ဒဗုိး႐ွက္ေရးသားခဲ့ျခင္းျဖစ္သည္။ တေယာသမား အစ္ဇက္ပါးလ္မန္းက တီးခတ္ေဖ်ာ္ ေျဖခဲ့ပါသည္။

မိသားစု အဖဲြ႕၀င္မ်ားထဲမွ အေမမ်ားသည္သာ ေန႔ထူးေန႔ျမတ္႐ွိသည္ မဟုတ္ပါ။ ဂၽြန္လတြင္ အေမရိကန္ မ်ားသည္ အေဖေန႔ကုိ က်င္းပခဲ့ပါသည္။ ၄င္းမွာ ပုိ၍ သစ္လြင္ေသာ အခမ္းအနားျဖစ္သည္။ ၁၉၇၀ ျပည့္ႏွစ္ အေစာပုိင္းတြင္ သမၼတရစ္ခ်က္ နစ္ဆင္က တစ္မ်ိဳးအားလံုး လုိက္နာရမည့္ အေဖေန႔ကုိ ေၾကညာ ခဲ့သည္။
အေမရိကန္ျပည္ေထာင္စု႐ွိ အဖုိးမ်ားကုိ ဂုဏ္ျပဳသည့္ ေန႔ထူးေန႔ျမတ္လည္း ႐ွိပါေသးသည္။ စက္တင္ဘာ လ တြင္ ျဖစ္သည္။ ထုိေန႔တြင္ ကေလးငယ္မ်ားကုိ သက္ႀကီး၀ါႀကီး ပုဂၢိဳလ္မ်ားထံမွ ေလ့လာ သင္ယူရန္ ႏွင့္ စကားေျပာဆုိရန္ တုိက္တြန္းေသာေန႔တစ္ေန႔လည္းျဖစ္သည္။

Sunday, May 10, is Mother's Day in America. It is a day when millions of Americans honor their mothers in many different ways.
Mother's Day is the day when people express the love and thanks they feel for their mother. They give her gifts. They send her a greeting card. They buy her flowers. And they take her out to dinner.

Mother's Day has been a national celebration in the United States for more than 80 years. The idea of honoring mothers is much older than that. Ancient civilizations in what is now Turkey honored the goddess Cybele. In their belief system, she was the mother of all the gods. The belief in Cybele spread to the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. Many centuries later, celebrations to honor mothers were held in other countries, too.

During the 1800s, a number of Americans organized local celebrations to tonor mothers. It took a long time, however, to gain support for a national celebration. The person most responsible for doing this was Anna Jarvis. Ms. Jarvis began her effort in the early 1900s. She wrote thousands of etters to congressmen, city officials, teachers,f and newspaper publishers. She traveled across the country to gain support for her idea. In 1914, President Woodrow Wison and Congress agreed that the second Sunday in May should be observed as Mother's Day in America.

Anna Jarvis wanted Mother's Day to be a simple event. She thought children could honor their mothers with small acts of kindness. She did not want Mother's Day to become a time for businesses to make a lot of money. But her efforts to prevent this from happening did not succeed. The day has become a major money-making event for gift stores, flower stores, the greeting card industry, and telephone companies.

Today, millions of Americans observe Mother's Day in some way. They buy more than 150 million Mother's Day greeting cards. Companies produce more than 1,000 different kinds. Most of the cards show pictures of flowers or hearts or other things that people feel linked to begin a mother. They have mesages that express a person's love and thanks for his or her mother. Some are humorous. And some have no words people can express their own feelings for their mother.

Many people give flowers for Mother's Day. It is one of the busiest days of the year for the flower industry. Twentythree percent of all fresh flowers and plants sold in 1995 were bought for Mother's Day. Even Americans who live far away from their mothers can send flowers. They order and pay for the flowers at a local flower store. The local store places a telephone call or send a fax message to a flowers store in a faraway city. And that store carries the flowers to the person's mother in that city.

Many people have weitten songs about mothers and Mother's Day. There is a song called "Mother's Day". It was written and is performed by Rick Margitza.
Americans spend millions of dollars to by Mother's Day gifts. Stores begin major advertising campaigns several weeks before the holiday. Clothes, sweet-smeeling perfume, and jewelry are popular traditional gifts. Candy also is very popular. But Mother's Day gifts can be imaginative, too. Many mothers like to receive books or sports equipment or tickets to the theater.

Mother's Day is a time for young children to do special things for their mother. Some will make a special gift or draw a special picture. Maybe they will play this special song on the piano. It was written by Russian composer Peter Illich Tchaikovsky in the 1800s. The music how he felt about his mother.
One family activity on Mother's Day to have the children cook the early morning meal. Then they serve the food to their mother while she is still in bed. Or they might clean the house so she does not have to do it. Fathers might take care of the children that day so the mother can rest or take a walk or read a book. Many mothers feel that this free time on their special day is a very good Mother's Day gift.

The day is an important time for family gatherings. Some families get together to honor all members who are mother: grand Mothers, aunts, sisters and cousins. Many people who cannot spend the day with their mother call them on the telephone. Mother's Day is one of the busiest days of the year for America's telephone companies. More than 125 million sons and daughters will telephone teir mother on Sunday.

Other families will get together for a meal at a local eating place. This means that mothers do not have to cook on their special day. Going out to dinner has become a tradition on Mother's Day. More than 39 percent of Americans do it. As a result, restaurants are extremely crowded that day. It has become one of the busiest days of the year for the restaurant industry in the United States.

Another Mother's Day activity is to go to a music concert. One of the songs people might hear is this one, "Songs My Mother Taught Me" It is by the Czech composer  Antonin dvorak. It is performed by violinist Itzhak Perlman.

Mothers are not the only members of the family who have a special day. In June, Americans will celebrate Father's Day. it is a much newer celebration. president Richard Nixon declared Father's Day a national observance in the early 1970s.

There also is a special day to honor grandparents in the United states. It is in September. It is a day when children are urged to talk with and learn from older people.
